Commercial General Liability Claims Specialist

Job Purpose:

Manage all 3rd party dig in damage claims under $5K, 1st party equipment claims and 3rd party pothole or property damage claims.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Investigate claims via telephone, written correspondence, and/or personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses and others having pertinent information
  • Make timely claims payments and adjustments; communicate claim action/processing with claimant and client.
  • Provide comprehensive, complete thorough analysis of coverage determination.
  • Understand third party recovery process and identify and ensure subrogation efforts are undertaken against responsible parties.
  • Negotiate claims to settlement and secure general releases for settlement
  • Attend offsite meetings as required

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES INCLUDING

  • Bachelors degree
  • 1-3 years of commercial general liability claims experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exhibit negotiation, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Outstanding customer service, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to work effectively in the claims management system and strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment with moderate supervision in handling claims within reserve and settlement authority.
  • Ability to manage and prioritized workload and diary management
